Gameplay Troubleshooting

Find simple solutions for games that do not start, missing controls, save problems, sound issues, fullscreen problems, and interrupted gameplay.

Last updated

The Game Does Not Start

  1. Wait until downloading and loading messages have finished.
  2. If a regional or language version dialog is open, select a version.
  3. Click or tap the game area and try Start Game again.
  4. Exit fullscreen and retry if a dialog may be hidden behind the fullscreen layer.
  5. Reload the current page if loading does not continue.

The Screen Is Black

  1. Wait briefly while the game finishes initializing.
  2. Click or tap the game image to activate it.
  3. Press Start or the game’s first action button.
  4. Reload the game if no image appears.
  5. Try another available regional or language version if the selected release does not start.

There Is No Sound

  1. Tap or click the game so the browser can activate audio.
  2. Check the device’s mute switch, media volume, and connected audio output.
  3. Open the emulator menu and check the volume or mute control.
  4. Exit and reopen the game if audio does not recover.

Virtual Controls Are Missing

  1. Tap the game screen and wait briefly.
  2. Exit fullscreen and enter fullscreen again.
  3. Rotate the device once so the controller layout recalculates.
  4. After returning from another app, give the browser a moment to restore the controls.
  5. Reload the current game and load your latest save if the controller does not return.

A Save Is Missing

  • Confirm that you are signed in to the account that created the cloud save.
  • Check Dashboard → Saved Games and remove platform or game filters.
  • Make sure you opened the same game and regional or language version.
  • Remember that a local or downloaded save does not appear in cloud slots until it is imported.
  • Check whether the slot was overwritten by a newer save.

The Game Restarted After Switching Apps

A mobile browser may discard a long-running background tab. Reopen the same game from the current page or your play history, select the same game version, and choose Load Game. Saving before you leave the game for a long time is the safest way to preserve progress.

Fullscreen Controls Will Not Hide or Reappear

Fullscreen controls hide automatically. To show them, tap the rendered game screen rather than the virtual direction pad or action buttons. Use Exit Fullscreen near the upper-left area. If the control does not return, rotate the device or leave and re-enter fullscreen.

A Controller Is Not Detected

  1. Connect or pair the controller before opening or restarting the game.
  2. Click or tap the game area to give it input focus.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect the controller.
  4. Confirm that the device recognizes the controller outside the game.
  5. Try another supported browser or the controller’s browser-compatible input mode.

A Button Is Missing

Virtual layouts differ by console. PlayStation adds face and shoulder buttons, Arcade can show six action buttons, and Nintendo 64 adds four C-buttons. Rotate the device, re-enter fullscreen, and check Control Settings. See the Game Controls Guide for the verified layouts.

The Wrong Game Version Opened

When a game offers several releases, select the regional or language version in the dialog shown before startup. If the wrong version is already running, leave the game and start it again, then choose the intended version. Use saves created with that same release whenever possible.
