SNES Games Collection
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), released in 1990 (Japan) and 1991 (North America), was Nintendo's 16-bit successor to the NES. It featured significantly improved graphics and sound capabilities, with Mode 7 scaling/rotation effects that created pseudo-3D environments in games like F-Zero and Super Mario Kart. The SNES introduced shoulder buttons to standard controllers and maintained Nintendo's reputation for quality with classics such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid. The console competed fiercely with Sega's Genesis, with the 'console wars' becoming a defining aspect of 1990s gaming culture. The SNES sold approximately 49 million units worldwide and remained popular well into the 32-bit era due to its strong first-party titles and innovative accessories like the Super Scope light gun. Many consider the SNES library to contain some of the greatest games ever made.
