The MSX2, launched in 1985, was the second generation of the MSX computer standard that significantly improved upon its predecessor. The system maintained backward compatibility with MSX1 software while introducing new graphical modes that enabled more sophisticated games like Metal Gear and Vampire Killer. Though not as commercially successful as some competitors, the MSX2 became particularly popular in Japan, the Netherlands, and Brazil, serving as an important platform for both gaming and home computing.
