About This Game

Super Mario Bros. was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka as "a grand culmination" of the Famicom team's three years of game mechanics and programming.

The game's success changed the course of the video game industry and popularized side-scrolling platform games. It has sold over 40 million physical copies, making it one of the bestselling games of all time.

The Super Mario Bros. series has inspired numerous ROM hacks, speedruns, and has been the subject of competitive gameplay. In 2005, IGN's poll named it The Greatest Game Of All Time.
