About This Game
Pokémon Ruby, along with its counterpart Sapphire, marked a significant leap in the series with improved graphics, abilities, and double battles. The games introduced concepts like natures, abilities, and a more complex EV/IV system.
The Hoenn region is based on the real-world Kyushu region of Japan and features diverse environments including tropical islands, deserts, and underwater routes.
With over 16 million copies sold worldwide, Ruby/Sapphire helped cement Pokémon's status as one of the most successful video game franchises of all time.
The game's success led to an enhanced version, Pokémon Emerald, and later remakes for the Nintendo 3DS titled Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
