Sega 32X Games Collection

The Sega 32X, released in November 1994, was an ambitious but ill-fated add-on for the Sega Genesis designed to extend the console's lifespan by adding 32-bit processing power. Marketed as an affordable entry into next-gen gaming (at $159), it featured dual Hitachi SH-2 processors and could display over 32,000 colors simultaneously. While it delivered impressive arcade ports like Virtua Fighter and Star Wars Arcade, the 32X suffered from poor timing (launching alongside the Saturn), limited third-party support, and a small library of about 40 games. Its complex setup requiring separate power supply and video cables became notorious. Despite selling approximately 800,000 units, the 32X was discontinued just 14 months after launch, becoming one of gaming's most infamous commercial failures. However, it developed a cult following for its unique hybrid games like Knuckles' Chaotix and remains an interesting footnote in gaming history.
