Built on the Pokémon FireRed engine, SoulGold lovingly reconstructs the entire Johto journey, from New Bark Town to Mt. Silver, followed by a full Kanto post-game. All 493 Pokémon are obtainable, with updated movesets, abilities, and the physical/special split. The hack also restores the Safari Zone and adds new story scenes and rival battles.
Signature features from the DS originals are recreated for GBA: your lead Pokémon follows you in the overworld, the Pokéathlon mini-games return with simplified controls, and the Battle Frontier offers a challenging post-game gauntlet.
