About This Game
Set after Power Instinct 2, the game follows the Gouketsuji clan's bizarre marriage tournament where fighters compete for Princess Saki's hand. The roster includes series veterans like Oume and Oboro alongside new fighters such as the luchador El Zagro and the demonic bride Angela Belti.
Matrimelee retains the series' signature humor and introduces new gameplay mechanics including the 'Tension Gauge' which powers super moves and the 'Miracle Wedding' finishing move that can instantly end rounds. The game runs on Sega NAOMI hardware, allowing for detailed sprite animations and vibrant visuals.
While not a major commercial success, Matrimelee gained a cult following for its absurdist charm and technical polish. It represents the last original arcade installment in the Power Instinct series and is considered one of the most visually impressive 2D fighters of its era.
