The story weaves together dozens of poignant vignettes as you help townsfolk with their hopes, regrets, and unfinished business.
The game features a flexible vocation system with 12 unlockable classes, allowing characters to switch jobs freely and retain learned abilities. Character creation is remarkably deep, with countless facial features, hairstyles, and equipment pieces to personalize your party. Alchemy, grottoes, and treasure maps offer endless post-game depth.
Dragon Quest IX also introduced local wireless multiplayer for up to four players, enabling friends to join each other's worlds for battles and exploration. It was a massive commercial success and remains a fan-favorite for its charming presentation, heartfelt storytelling, and incredible amount of content.
