About This Retro Game
The game bridges the gap between Digimon Adventure 02 and Digimon Tamers, explaining how Ryo Akiyama dimension-hopped from one series to the other. Ryo is pulled from Ken's room into the Digital World after answering a mysterious online quiz, where he learns that three of the Four Holy Beasts have turned evil.
Gameplay is a refined version of Tag Tamers, featuring turn-based 3-on-3 battles. Jogress evolution is essential for obtaining powerful Digimon, with more reasonable requirements than its predecessor. Players train their Digimon, fuse them, and battle their way through five tournament ranks against opponents including Koushiro, Wallace, Mimi, Yamato, and finally Taichi.
The D-1 Tournament is revealed to be a training program designed to strengthen Ryo for a final confrontation with a surviving Millenniumon. After defeating Moon Millenniumon, Ryo is blown from the normal flow of time and space, setting the stage for his appearance in Digimon Tamers.
A fan translation patch was completed in 2021, making the game fully playable in English. The patch also enables features that originally required link cables for solo players, such as earning Gold BITs by replaying dungeons.
