HackDarkstalkers 3: Uncensored is a restoration hack that reverses the content changes made to the Western PlayStation release of Darkstalkers 3, returning the game to its uncensored arcade and Japanese version state. Created by Ortew, this patch turns white blood back to red, restores Jedah's crimson fluids, corrects altered stage colors and character names, and fixes a graphical error in the special gauges. The result is the most faithful version of Vampire Savior available on Sony's 32-bit console.

Darkstalkers 3, known in Japan as Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire Ex Edition, was heavily altered for its North American and European releases. The most infamous change was the censorship of blood: combat blood was turned white, while Jedah Dohma—a character whose attacks revolve around blood—saw his signature crimson fluids changed to purple. The Perfect Torment stage also had its blood recolored from red to green. Ortew's Uncensored Hack systematically reverses these changes, returning the game to its original arcade presentation.
The patch also corrects several textual and graphical inconsistencies introduced during localization. The word "Down" now appears when defeating an opponent, as it did in the Japanese release, except during the final round. In J. Talbain's ending, the name "John" has been corrected back to "Jon," and in Hsien-Ko's ending, "Lei Lei" has been restored to "Mei-Ling." Version 1.1 additionally fixes a graphical error in the special gauge tiles, replacing a missing bottom tile with the complete asset from the game's second beta, matching the CPS2 arcade version.
This hack is designed for the PlayStation release and has been confirmed to work on real, modified consoles. It is compatible with the PS1 Classics emulator on PS4, where the uncensor patch v1.0 has been tested successfully.
