About This Game
Rare's 1993 remake amplifies everything that made the original infamous - turbo-charged vehicle stages (including the legendary Turbo Tunnel), exaggerated cartoon violence, and punishing difficulty curves that became synonymous with the franchise.
Notable for introducing the 'Battlemania' mode with remixed levels and the 'Infinite Lives' cheat code that helped players survive the game's notorious challenges. The SNES version adds parallax scrolling and Mode 7 effects absent in the NES original.
The soundtrack combines gritty synth-rock with slapstick sound effects, perfectly complementing the game's over-the-top action. The North American version removed some blood effects from the Japanese release to avoid controversy.
