About This Game
Set in ancient Greece, Altered Beast follows a Roman centurion resurrected by Zeus to save his daughter Athena from the god of the underworld, Neff.
The game introduced innovative transformation mechanics where players collect spirit balls to evolve into werewolf, werebear, were-tiger and other powerful forms.
Altered Beast was one of Sega's first major arcade successes in Western markets and became a pack-in title for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console.
The game is remembered for its digitized voice samples, particularly "Rise from your grave!" and "Power up!" which became iconic in gaming culture.
