July 2026 Update: Cloud Saves and Mobile Improvements

This update introduces cloud save slots and a new Help Center, and brings major improvements to mobile gameplay, virtual controls, sign-in, and overall game stability.
Help Center
- Added a new Help Center with clear guides for saving and loading games, switching discs, mobile controls, fullscreen, game controls, and common troubleshooting.
- Help articles include quick-start instructions, platform-specific guidance, and links to related topics.
- You can open the Help Center directly from the site footer while browsing ClassicGameZone.
Cloud Saves
- Signed-in players can now save game progress to the cloud.
- Each game supports up to three cloud save slots.
- When saving, you can create a new slot or overwrite an existing save.
- Players who already have more than three saves for a game can continue to view, load, download, overwrite, and delete all existing saves.
- Added a new save management page where you can manage saved games and launch games directly from a save.
- Existing local saves remain available and can continue to be used.
- Renamed “Export Save File” and “Import Save File” to the clearer “Save Game” and “Load Game.”
- Save and load messages now provide clearer progress, success, and error information.
Sign-In Improvements
- Trying to save or load while signed out now opens the sign-in window without interrupting the current game.
- After signing in, the pending save or load action continues automatically.
- Fixed an issue that could create duplicate saves after signing in.
- The navigation bar now updates immediately after a successful sign-in.
- Signing in from the navigation bar now returns you to the page you were viewing.
Mobile and iOS Improvements
- Games and virtual controls now recover more reliably after switching apps or leaving the browser in the background.
- Fixed mobile layout issues that could make the game area too narrow or hide part of the virtual controller.
- Improved fullscreen recovery when returning to the browser.
- Fullscreen controls now hide automatically and can be shown again by tapping the game screen.
- Improved the position and behavior of the “Exit Fullscreen” button on mobile devices.
- Tapping virtual controls no longer causes fullscreen controls to appear unnecessarily.
- Games with multiple regional or language versions now open the correct version more reliably in fullscreen.
- Improved emulator menu behavior after returning to a suspended game.
Virtual Controller Improvements
- Fixed missing and incorrectly positioned buttons in PlayStation games.
- Improved Arcade controls, including support for six-button layouts.
- Added missing C-buttons for Nintendo 64 games.
- Improved controller sizing and positioning across different mobile screen sizes.
- Fixed cases where virtual controls became hidden or partially cut off.
Game Activity
- Games you start playing now appear more reliably in your play history.
Additional Improvements
- Improved save and load dialogs across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Long button labels now fit better on smaller screens.
- Improved compatibility with saves created before the new save-slot limit.
- Improved stability when returning to a game after it has been left in the background for an extended period.
